Seek! is a charming new interactive application for iPhone, intriguing and beautiful. Seek! is a hidden image puzzle app which uses wonderful art backgrounds that adults as well as children will enjoy.

I appreciate how each of these backgrounds is unique, often incorporating bright colors or bold contrasting color choices, interesting textures and a craft-like appeal that I enjoy a great deal.

The use of inventive word-based clues makes this “seek and find” game stand out from the rest, including riddles such as “Find the turtle who needs help” or ”Just read between the lines.” One will have to look closely at these pages to find what he is looking for, and possibly only when the object in question is found will one get the joke.

The level of difficulty, however, does thoughtfully includes abilities from grade school to adult. When a puzzle is complete, gentle animation is included as a reward – a nice touch. I also appreciate the hidden details found on the main options page of this app that also trigger simple and sweet animations. Please look for them.

It is also lovely the way these puzzles are broken into sections each with its own color theme – to great effect. From these pages one can choose specific puzzles to focus on, working on a page in a timely manner in order to earn enough achievement stars for completing these puzzles to gain access to the next section.

Music is included as are congratulatory sound effects which can be turned off independently – a nice touch – but I do wish the hints offered as an option were more noticeable. At this time, the hidden object mildly wiggles when time has passed without a correct answer, but I think children feeling stuck could use more movement or subtle highlighting of these objects.

There is something very modern yet also timeless within this app – its sense of style as well as game play. Because of this, Seek! will be of interest to those leery of over stimulating games as these hidden image puzzles will keep children and their adults focused yet relaxed and engaged while looking at these creative backgrounds and work to decipher the included clever word play. Also nice is that these hidden objects vary in terms of placement from one time to the next – great for re-play.

Without narration, children will need to be able to read these clues or have the help of an adult. Because of this, I would love to see this app updated into a universal app as I would enjoy seeing some of these backgrounds up close, and the larger screen will help this, especially when sharing this application with a child.

The quality of the included artwork and the playfulness of the riddles make this application an easy one to recommend. I look forward to added content as promised at the end of this application.
